#Repost @the.archers.inc ・・・ Villa Müller (1930) Adolf Loos, Prague-Střešovice, Czech Republic. This innovative landmark of early modernist architecture was commissioned by František Müller and his wife, Milada Müllerová. Mr. Müller was an engineer and co-owned a construction company that specialized in reinforced concrete, developing new construction techniques, and he had no hesitation in commissioning one of the greatest architects of the time to design his own, representative home. Loos' method of design was also in transition, making the timing of the project serendipitous. This commission allowed Loos to bring his original spatial conception, known as Raumplan, to a rapid culmination. The outfitting of the villa interiors – selected and in many cases designed by Loos himself – was the embodiment of the surprising harmony between modern Functionalism and the classic English style.
