Weizmann house Monday 7.15 1: I wanted to visit the first president of Israel’s house because it was on the same campus as the Weizmann institute, the architect Eric Mendelssohn designed it, and my mother mentioned a memorable school trip where her class met the First Lady. The first president, Dr. Chaim Weizmann, was a scientist and wanted to make sure Israelis continued to research and make new discoveries. My father won a scholarship in high school to the Weizmann institute which started him on the path to work in “hi-tech,” as Israelis call it. His path directly led to mine. The house is gorgeous, it’s grounds are really enchanting, and the tour itself was delightful. I was the only one there that day and could take my time listening to every bit on the audio guide and looking closely at every part of the house.
